In 2018, nearly 1/3 of pregnant women in Sub-Saharan Africa were infected with malaria.

The 2019 World Malaria Report from the World Health Organization provides a comprehensive update on the global state of malaria. Data shows that the once historic decline in malaria cases and deaths has slowed significantly. Though global investments to fight malaria are helping, accelerated efforts are needed to maintain progress, particularly in the hardest-hit countries and for women and children – two of the most vulnerable groups.
